The drive units shown below are used to lower r.p.m. and increase the torque at the propeller.  It also reduces the load on the electric motor. When the load is reduced on the motor in your model, running time will be improved. An additional benefit to using a reduction drive is a more realistic speed for your model. These drive units are designed to use the most commonly available electric motors, namely the "380", "540", "550" series motors manufactured by companies like Mitsubishi and Johnson. The larger drive unit can also be used with the industry standard Dumas/Pittman motor as well.
540/DUMAS Drive unit (revision 2)

Accepts most '500' series and Dumas/Pittman motors. Motor not included. Available in the following 6 ratios: 6:1, 5:1, 4.8:1, 4:1, 3:1 and 2.5:1. (subject to availability.)

Drive Reduction Unit

Accepts most '500' series and Dumas/Pittman motors. Machined Aluminum body, bronze bushings, pinion, drive pulley , timing belt and 3/16" stainless steel shaft. Requires a suitable motor mount. Dumas Adapt-A-Drive

This gear set is the simple solution to a complex problem; driving two shafts from a single motor. These gear boxes come in 1.5 and 2 to 1 ratios. Ideal for cramped hulls and for placement in the "wet" portion of the hull, between the WTC and drive shafts.
